Shelley Page to Visit Escape Studios

Shelley Page
We're delighted to welcome DreamWorks and Aardman recruiter Shelley Page to Escape Studios. She'll be visiting our first year animation undergraduates to take a look at some of the work they've been doing over the past few weeks.

As always, engagement with industry is at the heart of what we do at Escape Studios. What skills are in demand? who is hiring? And, most importantly, how can be best prepare our students for the industry as it will be in two or three years time?

Shelley was one of the first recruits to DreamWorks back in the mid 1990s when the studio was first founded. We don't think there is anyone better qualified to critique our stdudents' work.

All about Shelley
Shelley has been working in feature animation since 1986. She has credits on dozens of animated films including "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?", "Shrek 1-4", "Shark Tale", "Madagascar", "Kung Fu Panda", and "How to Train Your Dragon".

Shelley started her career in animation in London with animation director Richard Williams, author of "The Animator's Survival Kit" - the core textbook all our students use.  From 1987 she was head of backgrounds on Disney's "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?", and in 1989 she was head of backgrounds at Steven Spielberg's Amblimation Studio. In 1995 she moved to Los Angeles as one of the first team of artists to join Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen's new studio, DreamWorks Animation as co-head of Artist Development.

Shelley's work today
Today Shelley works for both DreamWorks and also Aardman animation, recruiting talent and also building relationships with schools and festivals worldwide.

Shelley is also a member of many graduation juries and advisory boards of animation schools and festivals in the UK, Europe and worldwide.
