I didn't end 2017 without reflection on all of the wonderful experiences I had traveling, networking, and meeting what were once only faces on a screen, in person with the ease of reuniting with close relatives. Serendipitous and overwhelming in the most positive way imaginable was my time with the crew behind the documentary FredHeads, a deep exploration into the fandom and fans of the A Nightmare On Elm Street franchise. You can read more about that here, right now I'm excited be a part of helping FredHeads get the funding it needs.
The Indiegogo campaign is overflowing with a detailed story, footage, and perks, all geektastically tailored to grab the attention of any Nightmare fan.
*From The Press Release
A Nightmare on Elm Street is a cultural phenomenon that has given eternal life to its legacy and its villain, Freddy Krueger. FredHeads is the documentary about the fans within the A Nightmare on Elm Street community. As Nightmare is a global phenomenon that continues to thrive many years after its 1984 release, fans of all ages, both nationally and internationally, were invited to share their stories.
With the central theme of how being a fan can change your life, FredHeads will feature enthusiasts of all types: passionate fanatics, life-long aficionados, cosplayers, creators, artists, filmmakers, kids, and more. "I want to show the world why this franchise is so important," director Paige Troxell says. "I want to show that it is a survival story. So many people have been affected by this franchise. I get to hear their stories daily, and I knew that it needed to be on film. So many people call this community a home and family. I am excited to give outsiders a closer look on why we are all so close-knit."
The documentary will also feature insight from the stars and creatives involved in the original film series (Robert Kurtzman, Mick Strawn, Tuesday Knight, Lisa Wilcox, Miko Hughes, Ricky Dean Logan, Toy Newkirk, Danny Hassel, Andras Jones, Kelly Jo Minter, and many more), exploring the enduring legacy, the cultural impact, and the passion of the Elm Street fan community. Featured fans include Jeremy Todd Morehead, Anthony Browlee, Diandra Lazor, Paige Troxell, and Kim Gunzinger.
FredHeads is a production of Venn Pictures and Northgate Pictures.
Official Synopsis:
On November 9, 1984, a film directed by Wes Craven forever changed the world of horror, ushering a new wave of terror directly into the audience’s dreams. Since then, A Nightmare on Elm Street has become an iconic worldwide phenomenon that terrifies some, but is deeply beloved by others. FredHeads is a documentary that follows a group of friends who were united by Elm Street as they travel to various horror conventions, allowing fellow FredHeads to explore why this franchise connects its fans on a deeper level. Together they discover how the community has helped some get over the loss of a loved one, aided others in recovery from addiction, how it was their only friend in a time when they were bullied, and, in the end, why it became a home for so many. Along the way, they talk to countless fans to hear their stories as well as some of the franchise key players, each delving into why Elm Street is held so dear to people’s hearts and together exploring what is means to be a FredHead.
