The New Normal - Working From Home

SARS-CoV-2

Today Escape Studios became an online school, at least for now. For all our tutors and students, working from home, teaching and learning online, is the new normal, until further notice.

We're reasonably confident that all our classes can delivered remotely, though there will be many questions to be answered.

As long as they have a laptop and a decent broadband connection, our students should be able to continue to work from home, and we will continue to send feedback and support to all our students via email, our online classrooms, bespoke video feedback, and our Vimeo channel.

Facebook Classroom
We already have a Facebook Group for all the animation classes. As an online classroom, it's already where students post their work to get feedback, and it's where we run animation dailies.  For team projects, such as our second year animators are currently doing, students are encouraged to set up their own classrooms either at Facebook or using other virtual collaboration platforms such as Slack.

Online learning
We also have a range of tutorials hosted at Vimeo which teach the art and craft of animation, as well as related areas such as modeling, texturing and lighting. You can find the Vimeo channel here. You can learn a huge amount online. If there is a video you need, but can't find, let us know, and we'll get a video uploaded to the channel. 

Video Feedback
Our students will need detailed video feedback on their work. If you're a student at Escape Studios and need video feedback on your shot, send the Maya file to me or to your tutor (don't forget to include the audio file if there is one) at alex.williams1@pearson.com and I'll send you frame-by-frame video feedback. My videos are recorded using Camtasia, and I encourage all our tutors to get hold of a copy.
