Abstract Animation by First Year Gamers
One of the animation projects completed by our first year undergraduate students is a short piece of abstract animation set to music. Students are invited to use a variety of different animation tools, including keyframing, blend shapes, dynamics and simulation to create a piece of imaginative animation timed out to a musical sound track. It's a deliberately broad brief, allowing students to stretch their imaginations and utilise many of the different tools in Maya that can be used to create animation. They can create their own assets or import 3D models from websites like Turbosquid or tf3d.com, but most chose to model everything from scratch.
Below are just a few examples of the excellent work created by our undergraduate Games students, who recently completed their first animation module.
1. "Assembly" by Bjarke Frimand Frid
2. Abstract Animation to Music by Fabrizio Bergamo, using MASH in Maya 2017
3. Abstract Animation to Music by Gioia Varago, using MASH in Maya 2017
4. Abstract Animation to Music by Wiktoria Skrobarczyk
Remember that these are students who have had just 4 weeks training in animation - so the work done above really is a remarkable achievement.
Congratulations to all our students on their superb work.
