Blended Classroom
How do students learn animation at Escape Studios? Our courses focus on traditional classroom delivery, giving students all the skills they need to become professional animators.

But we also have many additional learning resources for our students, including traditional media such as books, magazines and journals (located just outside the animation classroom), an online library, and also dedicated a Vimeo channel with hundreds of tutorials on animation techniques.

The Vimeo channel digs deep into animation skills but also covers related disciplines such as modeling, rigging, lighting and rendering.

Traditional Animation Library Books
Animation Library
Our Animation Library is located on two large shelves just outside ToonTown on the 3rd Floor at 190 High Holborn.

This Old-School Library (actual books!) includes a wide range of animation titles such as Richard Williams' "The Animator's Survival Kit", "Character Animation Crash Course" by Eric Goldberg, and classics like "Timing for Animation" by Whittaker and Halas.

Animation books
As well as books on animation, there are books on cartoons, the art of caricature, visual development, character and creature animation, independent film finance, cinematography, acting, and design, as well as back issues of animation and VFX magazines.

Check-out and check-in of books is done on the honour system - you can sign books out yourself by writing your name in the Orange Library Book on the shelf.  Make sure to write your name clearly, and also give your email address and also the date you signed out the book, so we know who has the books and how we can contact you.

Vimeo Channel
Our dedicated Escape Studios Vimeo Tutorial Channel has been live for one year (see below for live links), and offers hundreds of tutorials in animation and related disciplines.

Animation tutor Michael Davies has created a central hub for our animation and VFX video tutorials, making it easier than ever for our students to find tutorials to support their classroom studies. The Vimeo Account is all our students at Escape Studios. These can be used by undergraduate, post-graduate, short course students and those taking evening classes.

Animation Video Tutorials at Vimeo
We have hundreds of tutorials or animation and related subjects such as modeling, texturing, lighting and rendering at our Vimeo Channel. To see the full up-to-date list, follow this link

Facebook Classroom
We also have a dedicated Facebook Group for each class. An online classroom, it's where students post their work to get feedback, and it's where we run our animation dailies.

We call this the Escape Method - a unique blend of intensive in-class teaching supported by hundreds of online video tutorials, and a dedicated Facebook Classroom in which our students are encouraged to give and receive feedback, simulating a real studio environment.

The Escape Studios Animation Blog offers a personal view on the art of animation and visual effects. To find out more about our new BA/MArt, now recruiting for September 2019,  follow this link.   To apply, visit the offical page here.
