"I asked him for a tune and he gave me a fucking symphony"- Miles Davis about Wayne Shorter's orchestral piece

With record sales falling the record company asked Miles Davis to come up with an orchestral piece.Favis turned to Wayne Shorter came up with a piece, but by that time the  quintet was breaking up. Just before Miles died he asked Shorter to find the music. SHorter then turned to Davis's protege, Wallace Roney to get the piece finished and presented 

This is a wonderful film about the piece, Davis and mostly Roney. It is 80 minutes with great people telling great stories and playing great music. It is one of my favorite films of DOC NYC.

And please forgive me for not be critical I simply had too good a time watching it to try and take the film apart.
