BAA - British Animation Awards

The BAA Awards are back next year, celebrating the best of British Animation. 

This year the BAAs have offered our students a unique opportunity - the chance to animate a "sting/ident" for the Awards Ceremony.

Our second year undergraduate students are currently working an "animals and creatures" animation module, so this brief is a perfect opportunity to help out one of the UK's biggest animation festivals with some fun animation.

About the BAAs

The British Animation Awards (BAAs) is about promoting and championing UK animation in all its guises, culminating in an awards ceremony and a party in central London. 

The Awards will be held at the BFI on the South Bank on March 10th 2022 - we will be in person and live streaming the event.

BAAs 2022 Sting/Ident Brief

Our students are invited to create an animated "sting" (a short ident) to amuse and delight both online audiences and the industry leaders who attend the BAA event in March 2022.

BAA Sting/Ident Rules

1. Sheep - The BAA sting brief is to create something that contains one (or more) sheep with extra points for weaving in references to animation and or the UK. It doesn’t have to be the BAA sheep logo, it can be any sheep or lots of sheep, and you can do with them as you will, as long as you aim to entertain the BAA audience in a quirky, inventive way. 2. Duration - The Sting Ident should be between 4 – 25 seconds in duration 
3. Technique - There are no constraints on technique, genre or style as long as it is animated. Just remember – originality is what the BAAs are after – look at the awards artworks for inspiration, but don’t copy them. Be clever and original. Be quirky and inventive. Be daring and dangerous. Just don’t be rude and crude.
