"Flame" wins Best Editor
Many congratulations to the makers of "Flame" and "Offcut", which have both won awards at the recent "We Make Films Festival" in London.

"Flame" won Best Editor, and "Offcut" won Best DOP (Director of Photography).  The awards are a welcome addition to both films' trophy cabinet, which already include a number of festival prizes.

Flame was directed by Cherelle Owusu, produced by Carolina Xavier, and edited by Victor Andreas Lopez"Offcut" was directed Petroc Menuhin, with cinematography by Clement Gharini.

About "Flame"


Offcut - winner of Best Director of Photography
Flame is a two minute short film, completed in 2019 by our MA animation students as part of their fourth module, AN7004, a studio project. In this module, students collaborate together on a group project, simulating as close as possible a studio environment. The film was overseen by supervising tutor Amedeo Beretta.

"Flame" has already enjoyed festival success, having won awards at the London Seasonal Short Film Festival and the British International Amateur Film Festival.

About "Offcut"
Offcut, directed by Petroc Menuhin, is a two minute short film which follows the adventures of a discarded scrap of wood who comes to life and finds meaning in music.



Escape Studios Festival News
Here at Escape Studios we now have over two dozen films in festival competition.  Despite the challenges caused by the Corona lockdown, and many festivals cancelling or moving online, our student films continue to experience growing festival success.

Quarantine Chorus
Winner: "Best Animation"
"Quarantine Chorus", the short film recently completed by our second-year animation students at Escape Studios about life under the Corona Lockdown, has already won two awards: Best Animation at the Berlin Flash Film Festival, and also Best Super Short Film at the Prague Monthly Film Festival.

Directed by Edoardo Sartori and produced by Nickoel Izharudin, the film was based on an original idea by Tequila Mason.

The film was completed entirely from home during the Covid Pandemic. Our students collaborated remotely, animated and rendered their shots relying only on their own home resources.

Quarantine Chorus has also been selected for the Bowery Film Festival, NYC, March 24 2021.

Adam & Eve Mk II - multiple awards
Adam & Eve Mk II
Multi-award-winning "Adam & Eve Mk II", directed by Sebastian Kuderhas been winning awards in film festivals for almost a year.  It has also been selected for three upcoming festivals:
Birds Connect Our World
Birds Connect Our World, directed by Escapee Lillian Fu, is also a semi-finalist at the  Lisbon Film Rendezvous, November 13-15

March of the Potguins is a short film about the journey of two penguin salt-and-pepper pots to find safety in the frozen wastes of the kitchen. It is a semi-finalist in three festivals:

"Minuet", an award-winning short film about a young pianist preparing for a concert performance, has been selected for the Revere International Student Film Festival in Austin, Texas on 30 September.

Nefertiti, directed by Eilin Berrio Pena, is in
Planet Mars
Sebastian Kuder's short film "Planet Mars" has been selected for the Baghdad University International Film & TV Festival on June 1st.

Hat Shop
Hat Shop, directed by Stevie Stedman, has been selected for the Zeitimpuls Film Festival in Austria on June 22-27.

Street Ratz 
Steet Ratz, directed by Austin Hill, has been selected for three festivals.
