Time to Pitch!
On 12 April from 9.30am to 12.30pm we will be hearing more pitches from our students for PR5001 Studio Project Module, this time for their second short film project, "Project B".

This pitch presentation is where our students present their second idea for a short film, documentary or teaser/trailer. What sort of story do you want to tell? Who are the characters, and why do we care about them? What is the hook? Why do we the audience want to see this film?

Your eight minute pitch is your chance to capture your audience's attention, intrigue them, and make them want more.

On Monday 12 April our 2nd year undergraduates continue with Studio Project Module PR5001, worth 45credits, where students collaborate to work together on group projects.

This module is the culmination of the second year of study at Escape Studios, where our students begin to focus on individual proficiency in the craft of animation, and also work together in groups to produce short films.

Live Client Project
The Studio Projects are designed to simulate as closely as possible the experience of working on a live client project.  PR5001 runs until the end of May, with two weeks off for the Easter holidays.  The Studio Project is broken up into two six week projects, giving students the chance to practice their film-making, animation, and story-telling skills.

Anyone Can Pitch
Any of our students can pitch their ideas, and we also welcome pitches from other students at Escape studios, such as those studying Storyboarding and previsualisation.

Project A Complete
Our students have already completed Project A, and all three films are currently being entered into festival competition, including Isolation, Pet Shop and A Long Way Home.

How to Pitch
For a brief introduction to the art of the pitch, watch the short video below.

Ten Minutes
Ten Minutes to pitch

Each student will have eight minutes to make their pitch, then two more minutes to take questions, and get feedback
 Ask yourself these key questions:
  • What is the story do you want to tell?
  • Who are the main characters, and why do we care about them?
  • What is the hook? Why do we the audience want to see this film?
Your pitch is your chance to capture your audience's attention, intrigue them, and make them want more.  Ten minutes may not sound like much time, but one of the key skills our students must learn is how to make a brief, succinct and persuasive pitch, just like in industry.

Turn on your Camera!
Turn your camera on
Pitching is about making a connection with your audience. If you don't believe in your project - why should anybody else? If your project bores you - it will bore others too.  So be upbeat and positive, dress nicely (no pyjamas), turn on your camera, and make eye contact with your audience.  Don't be an anonymous pitcher.
